About Inshanghai

First opened in May 2007, Inshanghai is a well-established Oriental Grand Buffet Restaurant located on the Durham Riverside, under The Riverwalk Shopping Centre and next to Framwellgate Bridge. Inshanghai is a spacious restaurant that has The best tables are by the window as it allows you to gaze upon the fabulous views of Durham Castle.  Inshanghai is able to cater for parties of all sizes, whether it is solo dining, couples or even small & large parties. The layout is set out into different areas, including a large bar area where diners can have pre-drinks before being seated in the buffet area. Inshanghai offers an ‘all you can eat’ policy, with prices varying and specific to different times of the day: Lunch Buffet, Grand Buffet and Sunday Lunch to help yourself to an extensive buffet. 

Inshanghai caters for all dietary requirements: all 14 of the main allergens are clearly listed in the food label. Traditional Chinese food ranges from Crispy Seaweed to Stir Fry Pork, Noodles, Rice, a variety of Curries and Salad options to select from. And for those wanting a more traditional food fair, Inshanghai offers an English Carvery serving Roast Beef and Chicken with Mashed & Roast potatoes on Sunday afternoons. Every dish is clearly labelled, so you simply take a plate and help yourself to all the hot and cold food on offer, able to go up a few times to get exactly what food you want. There is also an offering of desserts with Jelly and Ice cream being a firm favourite, if you have any room left! 

It’s ideal for the many Durham Students who also get 10% discount all day on production of their student card. Inshanghai is also great for couples and families who wish for a relaxing dining experience, where everyone can choose they like to eat, and can eat as little or as much as they want.
